Vowels and Consonants
Now that we know all the letters of the alphabet, we can organise them a little better.
The letters of the Alphabet can be arranged in two groups namely VOWELS &
CONSONANTS.
There are only 5 Vowels in the English Alphabet, these are:
A E I O U
These letters are called vowels because these are sounds made with the throat and the
mouth not closing at any point. In other words air can flow freely from your lungs through
your throat and out through your mouth all they way through the sound.
The rest of the letters in the Alphabet form what are called Consonants
e.g C B G J K F etc.
These letters are called consonants as these are sounds made with the air being stopped
once or more in order to make the sound. This means that at some point while making the
sound, the sound is stopped by ones teeth, tongue, lips, or constriction of the vocal chords
in order to complete the sound. E.g D
